Combine txt files into one
Combining text files
This tool merges several text files into one, keeping the encoding safe and counting the total number of lines.
How to use
Both steps use standard file dialogs.
How it works
- Each file is read and decoded as UTF-8 (errors are ignored).
- Lines are written to the output file one by one.
- A newline is added after each file so their contents stay separated.
- The name of each file being processed is printed as it goes.
- If a file can't be read or written, the error is caught and skipped — the rest continues.
- The total number of lines in the new file.
- A confirmation that the file was created.
- The total time spent, shown in hours, minutes, and seconds.
- UTF-8 decoding errors are handled gracefully.
- Output is written in binary mode, so non-UTF-8 characters won't break the file.
